On Saturday 1 July the U9A team visited the leafy surroundings of Amersham Town Football Club to take part in their annual tournament. The day was very hot and their was excitement in the air as England were due to play Portugal in the afternoon.
The day started badly for the boys as they fell to a 1 - 0 defeat against Oxhey although Parkfield hit the bar twice. The boys seemed half asleep! In the second game the team were rescued by a scrappy late equaliser and at that stage everyone was thinking about an early trip home to get positions around the telly for the afternoon game.
However then everything clicked into place. A change of team formation and a comfortable 3 - 0 win was followed by two more wins and Parkfield finished in third place and qualified for the semis.
The semi went well with a 4 - 2 win and in the final some champagne football lead to a 4 - 0 win against the team that Parkfield had lost to in the first match!
