U10's win Headstone tournament - Sept 5 2009

Festival of football - June 13/14 2009

Wow! What a weekend of football we had - the weather was great, the barbeque was in full swing (managed admirably by Steve with an amazing shift put in by Greg - watch out for the time and motion man Greg!) and Colin who had the electronic scoring system working a treat.

Parkfield teams had a very good weekend with many of our teams reaching the semi final stage and three teams getting to the finals.

The club would particularly like to thank all the parents who assisted with all the many tasks that we always have to perform over the two days (Bar-B-Q, tea bar etc) and those who helped us in our preparations on the Friday preceding the Tournament and in clearing away at the end of the Event. Grateful thanks also, as always, to the St John's Ambulance staff who look after us so well.

Alan Witham (Club Secretary) writes - 'I hope all our players and supporters, and particularly all our guests, enjoyed themselves - See you all next year'.

The winners of each age group were as follows:

SATURDAY
U9  BELMONT UTD 2  HEADSTONE MANOR 0
U11 LNER 0 PRINCES PARK 0 (LNER won 3-1 on penalties)
U13 PARKFIELD 2 PITSHANGER 1

SUNDAY
U10 PARKFIELD 1 HARROW ST MARY 0
U12 WEALDSTONE 5 PARKFIELD 2
U14 WATLING 1 PITSHANGER 0

The U13's are also in the League Cup final this Sunday 3 May at North Greenford United FC, Berkerley Avenue, Greenford. Middlesex. UB6 - Kick off 12pm.

The jubilant team!

The Parkfield U18s won the league on Sunday 8 March when they drew 1-1 away to Hendon FC. This was a fantastic achievement and so well done to them and their manager Richard!

Help wanted - kitchen / bar area expansion

The club would like to investigate expanding the kitchen and bar area to provide more facilities on match days. To get this moving the committee would be interested to talk to any architects / designers or trades people who would be able to assist with the initial plans for the work. If anyone thinks they may be able to assist, or knows someone who can, then please contact Harry, Alan or any of the executive committee (see contact us on the menu on the left).

Jason Roberts

Ex Parkfield junior Jason Roberts, who is currently playing for Blackburn Rovers, has kindly donated a framed signed shirt to the club. This photo shows a group of Parkfield boys and coaches with the shirt...thank you Jason!     (More info on Jason Roberts)

New Spectator Initiative - update - April 2008

Further to the report on this website that we have been asked to try a new spectator initiative your intrepid reporter (i.e. webmaster) has an update. I was present on one wet and wild day pitchside to witness the boundary posts and police incident style tape being erected alongside the pitch - the idea being that this would keep spectators and coaches away from the action areas - so helping the players and referee.

Unfortunately it was so windy the tape pulled the posts over and some posts (plastic) started to break - so the trial had to be abandoned. We of course continue to have a rope along the car park pitch which is made of sterner stuff.

We will let you know of any further updates and technological advances (like using a rope rather than thick tape!) when we get them. (Ed)
